The Hertz Corporation Senior Director, Internal Communication in Estero, Florida

General Responsibilities:

This role is responsible for owning, leading and directing all projects, initiatives and activities in support of Corporate Internal Communications, with focused oversight of all communication activities for global internal communications. Additional responsibilities include continuous focus on quality, globalization, and maximized efficiency of all internal communications, with an emphasis on continuous improvement and re-engineering of internal communication processes and procedures in line with overall Communications strategy. Lead other communications team members by assigning and delegating communication projects and strategies. Provide expertise and facilitation in support of strategic objectives, helping the business assume ownership of internal communications by effective, comprehensive messaging.

  • Focusing on key transformational communication activities that support efficiency and effectiveness within the organization, in support of Corporate and Operations strategic objectives

  • Liaising with global Communications team to define and implement improvements to Communication processes, systems and procedures

  • Operating with a focus on constant communication through multiple vehicles

  • Operating from a global perspective, with a focus on consistency and practicality

  • Owning the overall communication process, ensuring coordination and quality, and providing policy and process knowledge, as necessary

  • Owning the monitoring of employee response to communications as appropriate, to ensure timeliness, accuracy, quality and efficacy

  • Ensuring the adherence to all Hertz policies, procedures and standards and to work with leaders in communicating new initiatives that reflect the strategic imperatives of the organization

  • Ensuring proactive accountability for communications activities and controls related to areas of responsibility through multiple communication sources

  • Fostering teamwork to maximize communication efficiencies, quality initiatives and customer satisfaction

  • Owning the development and deployment of communication tools and templates as they relate to the employee needs to understand the goals, objectives, strategies and business successes.

  • Acting as key partner with Hertz leadership as it relates to interactions and responsibilities with the Communications stakeholders. Counseling employee communications staff and management in other divisions.

  • Build and maintain relationships with key personnel throughout the company who influence employee attitudes and behavior.

  • Provide counsel to leaders, up to and including the CEO, on effective methods for achieving employee communications objectives

  • Be a sounding board for employee communications staff who are engaged in counseling other managers through the company

  • Counseling employee communications staff and management in other divisions

  • Build and maintain relationships with key personnel throughout the company who influence employee attitudes and behavior

  • Provide counsel to leaders, up to and including the CEO, on effective methods for achieving employee communications objectives

Mandatory Requirements:

Educational Background: Bachelors Degree in English, Communication or Journalism, or relevant degree · 6-8 years of progressive experience writing, developing, and producing communication materials such as letters, newsletters, brochures, PowerPoint presentations, etc. · Professional experience in mass communication, marketing and/or public relations · Demonstrated experience working with complex raw data and developing letters, articles, and presentations for a general audience that explains/interprets the information · Graphic design and/or production skills and working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Design) and other relevant design programs · Social media experience

Professional Experience:

Minimum of 10 to 15 years internal communications experience with progressively increasing levels of responsibility in this and related fields (public relations, corporate communications, media relations, crisis communications).Good track record of solid supervisory experience in a team-oriented business culture. Ability to plan, manage and develop corporate brand, image and public relations programs in order to raise public awareness of the company and its accomplishments as well as to safeguard the company’s image and reputation. Ability to plan, manage and develop strategic corporate and employee communications programs. Demonstrated track record of conducting successful, proactive communications programs that employ creativity, use of a variety of tools, forums and media; and a proven, broad capability for crisis management. Ability to interface with all levels of employees and management as well as with outside agencies. Deep experience working with executives and senior level management. Experience working cross functionally within corporate environment.
