Director Talent Managementreporting to the Senior HR Director International & HRBP Corp HEL

The mission of this role is to drive as a COE expert for Talent, Learning and Development excellent Human Resource services and support to the HRBPs and the Business based on the overall business strategy. Internal customers are the Hertz Corporate countries, Hertz Europe corporate Head office (HEL) and Hertz Shared Service Centre (HESC) as much as all other COEs.

The role will be responsible for designing, developing, managing and coordinating Learning & Development initiatives for the International division; working closely with and aligning to global owners and programs.

Reporting to the Senior HR Director International & HRBP Corp HEL you will be able to demonstrate success in your career in a specialist HR role where L&D, Organisation Design and Talent Development agenda has been a high priority. You will have proven ability to influence and drive positive engagement in a dynamically transforming environment.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Talent Management, Leadership development, Performance Management

  • Develop initiatives for the International Division in regards to Talent Management, Succession planning and talent pipeline strategy for present and future business in line with Talent Mgmt COE (US)

  • Management of succession planning and high potential planning below RVP levels in close collaboration with the responsible HR Business Partners in line with the defined strategy and needs of the business.

  • Manage Talent calibration sessions, create Development plans and work with HRBPs on sustainability of whole Talent process

  • Partner with the Global Talent Management organisation to ensure continual performance improvement within all functions, driving processes to facilitate improvement.

  • Develop International Future Talent plan - work with business & EU HR Business Partner Team to develop a hiring and workforce plan based on the future strategy including Talent acquisition channels.

Learning & Development

  • Designing, developing, managing and coordinating Learning & Development function

  • Define and deliver the Employee Value Proposition for International

  • Identify and engage with appropriate external partners to deliver strategic HR L&D initiatives where necessary

Pay for performance, compliance, change mgmt

  • Support the migration of the business to a pay-for-performance culture linked to the Performance Management initiatives.

  • Ensure compliance with all Company policy’s in the responsible area and ensure a consistent practice across countries & HEL.

  • Act as a Change Leader, continually reinforcing the adherence to and utilisation of HR tools, practices and policies as they relate to current and transformational initiatives.

Job dimensions

  • The incumbent is responsible for driving internal collaboration, knowledge sharing and program coordination between Organisation and Talent Development, HR functions, RAC and Int’l CoE business leadership for the purpose of improving employee productivityand effectiveness, and to achieve alignment with key initiatives such as Talent Acquisition, Employee Relations, Compensation and Benefits, and regulatory compliance with National and Corporate standards etc.

What do we need from you?

Educational Background:

  • An appropriate tertiary bachelor qualification in Business, Human Resources, Psychology or equivalent is essential. A Master’s degree in any of the aforementioned areas and specifically Organisation or industrial Psychology would be preferable.

Professional Experience & Skills:

  • Hands-on experience in leading large-scale Organization Development, and Design projects in the service or related industries.

  • Proven ability to design and implement L&D initiatives on International level

  • A proven track record of successfully implementing an organizational development and design infrastructure on an international basis

  • Demonstrated experience in a specialist or managerial Human Resource function within a complex multi-site and multi-national, multi-brand organisation.

  • Ability to build and maintain strong and effective relationships at all levels in the organisation.

  • Strong and demonstrable professional and ethical code of conduct

  • Strong analytical ability with excellent MS Office suite knowledge and expertise.

  • Highly defined customer and value add perspective

  • Ability to critically review existing practices, processes and procedures and recommend continuous improvement to develop and implement best practise HR initiatives.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills at all levels.

  • Demonstrable track record in managing large change programs.


  • Knowledge and in-depth experience of Talent Mgmt and Development principles and tools
