Our European Head Quarters based in Uxbridge (near Heathrow Airport) employs approximately 350 people with over 23 different nationalities and we’re currently looking for a Contribution Analyst / Commercial Analyst to join the Contribution Analyst team of 5.

This is an integral role within the Contribution Team with a focus on the allocation of costs across Hertz Europe's business segments and the analysis of (& development of tools to analyse) business proposals and make recommendations to the business based on profitability. A key function is to make recommendations to improve profitability

The ideal candidate will take ownership of a diverse portfolio of products and accounts, guiding accounts, countries and sales managers’ portfolios into profitability. We require a strong numerate, rigorous analyst, but with the ability to explain financial issues to non-finance people and strong influencing skills.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ownership of profitability for key accounts and markets, in particular corporate and contract business in Germany (c. $200m revenue).

  • Provide financial analysis of key business segments to enable Senior Management to make informed decisions.

  • Produce financial analyses on the profitability of key accounts across Europe including corporate accounts, airline, hotel & card partners, tour operators and other travel partners.

  • Liaise with Business Planning, Finance, Accounts, Operations, Sales and Marketing departments both in Hertz Europe HQ and country management.

  • Review findings with European Finance, Sales and Marketing Managers and discuss the financial implications of any account / product / programme launch, and its impact on the business as a whole. Discuss key levers of profitability with sales managers; key cost drivers and make recommendations for improved profitability, including targeting price increases, but also cost reductions and proposals designed to modify customer behaviour.

  • Development of ‘user friendly’ financial models to assist Sales and Marketing managers review potential business proposals. Be responsible for the maintenance & development of these models and support the user base.

  • There will be dedicated training & support on key systems and applications, with on-the-job training in our bespoke contribution tool.

Candidate Profile

  • German speaking to a business level.

  • A finance or mathematical background (degree / masters in Finance or related discipline).

  • Financially numerate, analytical and comfortable working with numbers are essentials. Exposure to a commercial environment would be a plus.

  • Computer literate with experience in of Advanced MS Excel Experience in working with Visual Basic (VBA) would be a plus.

  • Experience with Tableau, Hyperion Essbase or SQL would be very useful, but the aptitude to develop and learn new applications is key.

  • Role requires a confident influential communication style, ability to gain working knowledge of business and proactively influence the business decision making process.

  • Good time management skills & ability to work to tight deadlines

  • Ability to communicate at all levels.

  • The successful candidate will be able to take ownership of a diverse portfolio of business areas, run a variety of detailed analyses and make insightful and decision-driving recommendations up to VP level.

  • The role is essentially a Finance role, but reports to Business Strategy, which is part of Sales & Marketing. It therefore offers a wide range of advancement opportunities into Business Planning, Finance, FP&A, Sales, Marketing, Analytics, Pricing, Tax, Audit and other departments.

  • Knowledge / experience of creating financial models would be a plus, but German speaking and strong Excel skills are the key must-haves.
