Our International Head Office based in Uxbridge is the base of our Centres of Excellence teams, as we have an exciting opportunity opening for a Senior Director, Commercial Strategy, Hertz International.

What is this role all about?

As Senior Director, Commercial Strategy International you will

  • Serve as advisor and thought leader to the President, Hertz International and International Senior Management Team.

  • Organization and development of strategic projects (Strategic Initiatives review, Strategy Days…)

  • Drive day-to-day business performance (Commercial, Financial, etc.)

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic Initiatives

  • In partnership with business unit leaders, develop, evaluate and advance Hertz International’s commercial initiatives

  • Ensure alignment of commercial initiatives with overall Hertz corporate strategy

  • Develop systematic means to choose and prioritize among new business ideas (i.e. innovation matrix or funnel). Develop business plans for selected new business ideas

  • Take active leadership to help lead and roll out strategic initiatives and new business ideas

  • Support the development of detailed strategic plans (underlying fact base, financial forecast, strategic choices, resources plan, contingency plan)

Strategic Planning

  • Ownership of the consolidated Hertz International strategic plan in coordination with the Finance organization

  • Ensure consistency among the different elements of the strategic plan (base plan and initiatives) and between the Strategic Plan and external market dynamics

  • Ensure that the strategic plan fairly assesses and reflects the potential outcome of the initiatives but also the required resources (capital, skills etc.) to achieve it successfully

  • Design, build and manage the all frameworks to support strategic planning and selection/prioritization of the strategic initiatives

  • Preparation of strategic presentations to the SMT, Board of Directors etc.

Business intelligence – Market context – Database

  • Create analytics, tools and reporting to optimize Hertz go-to-market strategy and competitive positioning across the brand portfolio

  • Manager contribution analytics to ensure new and existing lines of business generate sufficient financial return

  • Revise existing commercial reporting to create more insightful business management tools

  • Monitor Hertz competitive positioning in the external market including vs. competitors, new business models and changing market trends.

  • Collect this data with the support of the relevant COEs and ensure that this data is integrated, when relevant, in any decision / Strategic Choice

  • Lead any outsourced market research

Business Development

  • Develop and advance external commercial partnerships in relation to Strategic Initiatives / new business ideas

  • Help define organic and inorganic options and alternatives to support strategic initiatives

  • Work with Director, Global Corporate Development to help advance relevant M&A and joint venture opportunities

  • Assist in integration of acquired businesses / joint ventures

Educational Background:

Degree level education, CIM or MBA qualified

Professional Experience:

  • Extensive and relevant experience at a senior level in planning/strategy department or a reputable advisory firm.• 10 Years International Business Development experience• Comprehensive understanding of commercial economics• Proven supervisory or line management experience• Ability to handle multiple work streams and to prioritise appropriately and dynamically• Ability to work in a multi-functional team in cooperation with others• Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with high levels of maturity• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities and commensurate confidence• Able to cope under pressure and tight deadlines• High level of integrity• Good command of written and spoken English• Willing to travel
