The Hertz Corporation Fleet Supervisor - Gatwick Airport in United States

Across the UK we employ 1,400 people with over 30 different nationalities and we’re currently looking for a Fleet Supervisor to join our team at Gatwick Airport.

The job purpose of the Fleet Supervisor is to manage the daily operations of the instant return team, to control, drive and monitor the damage collection and tracking process along with any admin related functions.

Main responsibilities:


  • To liaise with and Supervise the operations of Assured Valeting

  • Conduct vehicle quality and VPI Audits as directed by the Fleet Manager.

  • Maintain the expected standards in the car park, specifically the parking and management of the terminal car park.

  • Efficient removal of non rentable cars from the rental car park.

  • Instant


  • Ensure that adequate staff cover is maintained on Instant Return at all times.

  • Supervise staffing levels, attendance and work standards for the Instant Return Teams day to day, specifically:

  • Use of the Instant Return machine and the % penetration achieved

  • IEOR penetration by individual team members

  • Dialogue with the renter at return to explain charges and IEOR

  • Low Mileage rental fuel charging penetration achieved by individual Instant Return agents

  • Damage identification and charging procedures

  • Manage and display monthly performance charts based on key KPI’s

  • Ensure all Instant Return staff adhere to Grooming and Uniform Standards at all times.


  • Ensure that all staff are effectively and correctly processing damage claims.

  • Ensure that all relevant paperwork and documentary evidence to support damage claims are processed.

  • Liaise with HCM and Customer relations over disputed damage claims, providing the necessary documentation as required

  • Work with the Fleet Supervisor and Administrative Assistant to ensure that targets for Missed damage from the IR team are met and improved on a continual basis.

Other duties:

  • Provide excellent customer service to all customers.

  • Be aware of new and/or updated procedures or policies.

  • Meet the Hertz grooming and uniform standard.

  • Action customer complaints and queries and to either resolve the complaints or pass them over to a senior member of staff if necessary.

  • Present the correct image of Hertz at all times.

  • Ensure that all Hertz assets are kept secure and that any breaches of security are reported immediately to the Fleet & Facilities Manager.

  • Observe Health & Safety procedures and regulations.

Professional Experience:

  • Previous people management, sales and customer service experience.

  • Enthusiastic, flexible and positive attitude towards selling.
