General Responsibilities

We are seeking a Director of North America Operations Communications to join our team at our World Headquarters in Estero, FL .The Communications Director will serve as an integral part of the Hertz Communications team reporting directly to the Senior Director of Communications.

This individual will be responsibleforstrategic development and implementation of field communications strategies and engagement efforts that foster a clear understanding of Hertz’s NA Operations’ business and goals, while driving and supporting its culture.This individual willmanage the internal communication response to crisis situations which affect organization perception and reputation. This position will provide communications counsel to senior leaders, across Operations, and will be akey contributor in a fast-paced business focused on growth.

Frequent travel is a requirement for this role (up to 50% early in the role to get engrained in the business and establish field relationships, then 20-30% continuing-- to maintain a pulse on the field). This is an individual contributor role (no direct reports).

Mandatory Requirements

Core Responsibilities

  • Travels to our top 30 sites and builds relationships and strategic communications rhythm with the Regional Vice Presidents, General Managers/ Area Managers

  • Develops and executes strategic employee communications and engagement plans designed to support key NA Operations business objectives, long-term goals

  • Provides strategic communications counsel and support for Operations senior leaders and with cross-functional partners

  • Establishes company best practices and tools for communications and persistently researches new industry tools and practices

  • Builds awareness and use of corporate communications vehicles with key stakeholders, reinforcing the value of corporate communications in driving business results

  • Supports content development for the internal website

  • Writes, edits, and directs and supports video content creation for Operations-specific communications


  • Bachelor’s (or higher) degree in Communications, Public Relations or Journalism

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of internal or field-specific communications experience with progressively increasing levels of responsibility in this and related fields (public relations, corporate communications, media relations, crisis communications),or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the job

  • Prior experience building and supporting strategic communications for remote-based/ field employees

  • Specific experience working with front line managers and exempt workforce preferred

  • Prior experience providing strategic communications counsel within companies facing transformative change

  • Prior experience building and implementing ongoing executive and internal communications plans working with senior level management

  • Familiar with newer methods of communications

  • Proven ability to foster strong relationships within teams

  • Demonstrated flexibility, mature judgment and ability to function professionally under stress

  • Team player, willing to roll up your sleeves and help deliver projects from strategy to execution
