The Hertz Corporation General Accountant – Indirect tax team – German in Eschborn, Delaware

Our German Head Quarter is currently looking for as Indirect Tax Accountant reporting into the Indirect Tax team based in Hertz Shared Service Centre in Dublin, Ireland.

What is the role all about?

The Indirect Tax Accountant will be primarily focused on VAT compliance and other direct/indirect tax filing obligations. You will be required to work on various projects and supplementary works to improving processes/procedures within the Shared Service Centre. You may be required to deal with compliance obligations in other jurisdiction, for which training will be provided, where required.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsibility for timely preparation and submission of German and other VAT returns and certain other indirect tax obligations

  • Computation of indirect tax payments and liaising with finance department for processing requests for payment

  • Preparing the reconciliation of VAT accounts according to Hertz accounting policy

  • Supporting Indirect Tax Manager in indirect tax queries/issues

  • Ensuring indirect tax compliance in adherence with the market legislation

  • Liaising with the country business & tax teams and Hertz international network.

  • Ensuring the preparation and submission of indirect tax returns

  • Preparing the reconciliation of VAT accounts according to Hertz accounting policy

  • Computation of indirect tax payments and liaising with finance department for processing the payment of indirect taxes

  • Involvement in month-end process under US GAAP accounting

  • Staying abreast of VAT law changes

  • Finding and working on new opportunities for implementing indirect tax processes

  • Support internal control and SOX compliance activities related to indirect tax

What do we need from you?

  • University degree and/or fully qualified and/or in the process to be qualified in a professional body (a Tax qualification is preferred but not mandatory)

  • At least 1/2 year of experience in a tax role or similar in industry or audit/tax firm

  • Fluent in German and working knowledge of English

  • Some knowledge of local VAT law and indirect taxes

  • Good working knowledge of MS Office

  • Excellent communication skills – ability to communicate at all levels

  • Proactive, enthusiastic attitude to work and committed to continuous process improvement

  • Time management skills and strong attitude to manage tax deadlines
