The Hertz Corporation Airport Planning & Design Manager in Estero, Florida

General Responsibilities


This Airport Planning & Design Manager is responsible for the management and direction of the design and construction functions within the Facilities & Construction Center of Expertise (COE). The primary responsibility is to ensure the requirements of the Business are fully supported through expert management, providing maximum benefit to Hertz. The role acts as a key interface / liaison with the Operational Units, Real Estate & Concessions, Facilities and key Business Partners. The main objective of this role is to deliver to the Business appropriate projects, as required and to established standards, in the most cost efficient manner and within agreed timescale.

Key Result Areas :

  • Manage professional teams of in-house / external service providers, architects and engineers to deliver a portfolio of industry leading facilities, such that the Company position is maintained at the desired level, at all times.

  • Projects and programs are delivered, when and where required, to expectations and agreed standards.

  • Appropriate facility design and planning standards are implemented at all key on and off airport facilities, as agreed with Business Units.

  • Service Providers products and services are delivered, as contracted, in line with project / program schedules and budgets / approved funding.

  • Project and program implementation, in conjunction with design and planning standards are delivered in a consistent way across the facilities portfolio, at best possible value.

  • Sustainability protocols and policies are implemented in conjunction with other Business Units, to ensure Hertz is kept at the leading edge of sustainable design and delivery, for both new and remodel facilities.

  • Deliver, in conjunction with key stakeholders and business partners a portfolio of standard products and services which can be utilized to drive brand consistency, cost efficiencies and reduce time-to-market.

  • Introduction of new and or modification of existing technology platforms, to ensure management of the portfolio is efficient and effective.

  • Assess and communicate recommendations for utilization of space, equipment, personnel and other resources and services, as needed to meet customer requirements.

  • Preparation of departmental budgets and the control of expenditures for both individual projects and programs, in line with Business direction and requirements and recognized Industry best practice.


Mandatory Requirements

Professional Experience:

Experience in a similar or related role in either a consulting and or corporate capacity, with hands-on experience of handling large projects, program and portfolios, with significant and diverse capital investment.


  • Extensive and in-depth knowledge of construction, design and planning..

  • Excellent understanding of project management processes, concept to completion.

  • Ability to create, develop, implement and maintain corporate standards.

  • Financial and business acumen and a track record of managing large portfolios and contracts.

  • Thorough understanding of business drivers and the required support mechanisms.

  • Strong understanding of sustainability and environmental considerations.

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Office, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Access, CAD and Industry related design, planning and project management tools.
