Assistant General Counsel – Sourcing and Procurement

We are seeking an experienced sourcing and procurement attorney to lead the Law Department’s support of Hertz’s Procurement organization in the U.S., including managing a team of attorneys and staff as well as serving as a valued partner in providing legal advice on all phases of Hertz’s complex, enterprise-wide procurement and outsourcing contracts. The Assistant General Counsel position will be a member of the Hertz Law Department and its Corporate practice group, reporting to the Vice President, Corporate & IP Law.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Responsible for all aspects of leading and coordinating the Law Department’s interactions with the Procurement organization, including the day-to-day supervision of at least one other attorney and administrative staff.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior business stakeholders in support of Hertz’s complex, enterprise-wide procurement and outsourcing contracts.

  • Draft, review, negotiate, and oversee a wide range of vendor contracts, ranging from routine to complex transactional matters.

  • Proactively manage a team to process a large volume of contracts under demanding time constraints.

  • Deliver business-oriented legal counsel to Hertz’s internal stakeholders in a timely, positive, collaborative and constructive manner.

  • Serve as a trusted partner to senior executives, and other leaders in the organization, by providing risk-based legal counsel and guidance on sourcing and procurement matters.

  • Analyze and interpret sourcing and procurement transactions to ensure compliance, consistency, and legal risk mitigation.

  • Be a vocal advocate and champion for Hertz’s culture of adhering to strong ethical standards

Mandatory Requirements:

The successful applicant must possess:

  • J.D. with strong academic credentials

  • Required to be admitted to the bar and in good standing in Florida, or admitted to the bar and in good standing in another state and eligible for limited licensure as in-house counsel in Florida.

  • Minimum 7 years of experience as a practicing attorney with a corporate in-house legal department and/or private law firm.

  • Excellent interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively explain complex legal issues to non-lawyers.

  • Exceptional customer service skills and a strong team player.

  • Ability to operate in fast-paced environment with a very high level of autonomy.

  • Ability to read, write, and fluently speak and understand the English language.

  • Excellent PC skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Requirements :

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have prior experience leading or managing a legal procurement function or be a key member of a legal team supporting a procurement function.

  • Possess subject matter expertise in complex vendor and outsourcing transactions, including information technology, software, licensing, servicing, consulting, and outsourcing agreements.

  • Have an understanding of Oracle Contracts Module.
