The Hertz Corporation SOI Project Director in Estero, Florida

General Responsibilities

The SOI Project Director is responsible for leading successful delivery of the Site Operations Improvement (SOI) and any subsequently assigned RAC Ops projects

The key responsibilities and accountabilities for the incumbent are to:

  • Project Manage the assigned projects to ensure milestones are met, KPIs are developed, and accurate reporting of financial milestones

  • Ensure preparation, progress and delivery of initiatives that improve Hertz’ cost base and customer experience

  • Review Maturity Assessments and recommendations to identify and any major changes and investments within the scope of the project

  • Manage SOI Coaches and SOI Trainers, Operational Improvement (OpIm) Team Leads, and other Project Team Members, including contribution from other members (cross functional representatives)

Key result areas include:

  • Manage and deliver assigned projects to ensure initiatives are scheduled, risks and benefits assessed, issues communicated, resources allocated accordingly, and plans are executed in accordance with the project plans

  • Work with the Vice President Project Management and Regional Vice Presidents to develop and implement their initiatives; validate best practices across the division

  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with project teams at the region, location, and division levels. Facilitate the development of strong cross functional relationships essential for success

  • Own the results, both financial and service related

  • Manage detailed scope of work / charters for each initiative to be delivered under this project

  • Construct timeline and work flow for the work team to deliver objective, roles and responsibilities, report out structure, team meeting timing and structure, and measurement protocol

  • Ensure preparation, progress and delivery of commitments; manage working team to ensure that progress is being made on deliverables and inter dependencies across individual projects are identified, documented and addressed

  • Identify and track quality standards throughout projects. Identify barriers to project success; negotiate through barriers with major stakeholders to keep progress on track

  • Create and embed standard project management tools and templates; ensure consistent use of standardized templates for project plans, business cases, program communication, maturity and opportunity assessments, charter / scope of work, requirements etc. for each initiative to be delivered within the Work Stream

  • Support team members to deliver against individual project plans to prepare, plan and deliver their individual initiatives

  • Work with regional coordinators to ensure that all region and location specific projects are properly statused and project variances are properly documented and communicated

  • Review and report on the performance of the project and project deliverables against the business case

  • Provide senior leadership with regular briefings and updates on project progress, potential issues, obstacles, conflicts or challenges

  • Track project metrics regarding performance of division projects, as well as quantitative metrics to ensure that projects met defined operational metrics.

  • Gather lessons learned with project teams to review project success and areas requiring improvement for future

Mandatory Requirements

Educational Background:

  • Business Degree or Engineering/Computer Science Degree and proven track record in project management office role preferably in the Service industry

Professional Experience:

  • Previous project management experience, preferably within Hertz, working in cross functional teams (and with multi-level and matrix reporting relationship responsibilities)

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with Senior leaders and manage large dispersed and diverse workgroups

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of Hertz systems, data sources and organizational responsibilities

  • Demonstrated aptitude of project management tools and processes

  • Deep understanding of the Service industry and its business drivers

  • Outstanding people management and leadership capability

  • Excellent change management capability

  • Strong Financial acumen

  • Strong Business acumen

Additional Notes:

  • Must have a customer service orientation

  • Self starter with the ability to work across all levels and motivate variety of teams, without actual reporting structure

  • Strong on integrity, flexibility, creativity, innovation, passion
