The Hertz Corporation Sr. Aircraft Captain in Naples, Florida

General Responsibilities

  1. Checks flight schedule to determine trip assignments.

  2. When assigned as Pilot in Command takes command of assigned aircraft and crew and is the final authority in the operation of the aircraft.

  3. When assigned as Second in Command fulfills the duties of that position.

  4. Supervises and ensures that aircraft operations are conducted in a safe, professional and efficient manner with maximum service to passengers.

  5. Practices effective Crew Resource Management; ensures crew coordination and effective delegation of duties. Conduct crew preflight and post flight briefings.

  6. Shares knowledge and assists in training and career development of crewmembers assigned to their flights.

  7. Conducts each flight in accordance with Company Policies and Procedures and applicable Federal Aviation Regulations.

  8. Coordinates with the Aviation scheduler on matters affecting the trip itinerary.

  9. Coordinates with the Lead Passenger on desired trip itinerary.

  10. Analyzes weather conditions.

  11. Determines correct weight and balance for all phases of flight.

  12. Ensures aircraft performance is adequate for all phase’s flight.

  13. Ensures aircraft performance is adequate for all phases of flight.

  14. Ensures that the aircraft is in an airworthy condition and that all documents, equipment and supplies are on board.

  15. Ensures the aircraft is clean and prepared for flight.

  16. Plans flight and fuel requirements; files flight plans; obtains airport reservations (if necessary).

  17. Coordinates arrivals/departures with ground handling agencies.

  18. Arranges crew hotel accommodations and transportation.

  19. Orders/stocks passenger meals and amenities for trip.

  20. Completes required Company forms and logs specific to each trip.

  21. Coordinates with Company scheduler and maintenance personnel during trip regarding aircraft condition and status.

  22. Maintains communications with Hertz Aviation office to relay changes in schedule, aircraft status, passenger manifest, etc.

  23. Performs cockpit duties pertinent to assigned position in crew (i.e. Pilot Flying or Pilot Not Flying).

  24. Maintains own Basic Airmanship and piloting skills at a high level.

  25. Maintains own knowledge of assigned aircraft and related systems at a high level.

  26. Maintains own knowledge and understanding of material applicable to Airman's Certificate(s) held at a high level.

  27. Maintains a complete understanding of the provisions and requirements of this Manual.

  28. Submits suggestions for additions and changes as necessary.

  29. Satisfactorily completes all required Company and FAA training courses and proficiency checks.

  30. Accepts additional duties and projects as assigned.

Mandatory Requirements

Educational Background:

Bachelor’s Degree.

Language Skills

Ability to Read and Speak English Required

Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and passengers.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Professional Experience:

  • High Speed / Sweep Wing Aerodynamics required

  • Dassault Falcon experience required

  • International Experience required


  • Corporate Aviation Experience

  • Safety Management System

  • Crew Resource Management


Demonstrated Upset Recovery and Loss of Control Experience

  • Military or Approved and recognized Course


  1. Hold an FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate with Falcon type rating.

  2. Have successfully completed at least one FAA First Class Medical examination within the previous 6 months.

  3. Have logged a minimum of 5,000 flight hours.

  4. Have logged a minimum of 2,500 flight hours as Pilot in Command in turbine-powered aircraft.

  5. Have logged a minimum of 1000 flight hours Dassault Falcon aircraft.

  6. Meet all currency requirements regarding instrument flight time and night landings prior to flying any required trips.

  7. Be able to pass an instrument competency check in the category of aircraft to be flown.

  8. Must successfully completed a manufacturer's approved Pilot Initial training type rating course on the type of aircraft assigned.

  9. Have successfully completed all Hertz Aviation required pilot training programs such as SMS, CRM and the Hertz Aviation security program.

  10. 5 years’ experience in aviation related position(s).

Additional Notes:

Job Location will be in South Florida (Estero Area)

Must be able to frequently adjust schedule to meet the department's needs. This may require working weekends, holidays, early mornings, and late nights. May often be on call during off duty hours.

Must be available to attend full-time training when attendance is mandatory.

Must possess PC skills.

Must have capacity to work within strict timelines in order to maintain on-time departures
