General Responsibilities

Hertz is looking for Learning & Development Manager to join a newly formed team within International. This is a newly created role and you will have great potential to grow and be as creative and dynamic in our learning and development function. The new manager will work across all business divisions and with all levels of employees, we are looking for a new manager who will enjoy and be comfortable with change, ambiguity, autonomy and thrive in a dynamically transforming environment.

Reporting to the Director of Talent Management for the International division, the L&D Manager role plays an important part of the COE for Talent, Learning & Development providing expertise and support to enable the Business to succeed.

Fluency in another language (French, Spanish, Italian, and German) is essential.

(This position can be based in one of our other European Corporate Countries UK, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Benelux or Ireland for the right candidate).

Role Purpose

Is known for designing, embedding and delivering fit for purpose learning and development solutions across Hertz Europe to ensure that the business is best able to identify, attract, develop and retain talent to meet current and future business requirements.

Key Accountabilities

Learning & Development design and delivery

Design, deliver and embed pragmatic learning solutions that are focused on business needs so as to maximise return on investment and provide an outstanding experience for participants

Evaluation

Design and implement an evaluation approach for learning & development solutions to assess the overall success and impact to the individual learner and to maximise the return on investment for the business

Analysis

Collaborates with internal stakeholders to create a learning needs analysis to determine the scale and scope of the learning & development agenda that is needed to drive business goals

Facilitation/Coaching

Acts as a facilitator and coach to individuals to support the development of their capability and achievement of key objectives

Relationship Management

Builds and maintains relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers to maximise the successful implementation of the L&D strategy across the business

Change

Responds to and manages change activities to ensure successful delivery of required outcomes

Project Management

Leads and contributes to projects across Europe and the wider global business to ensure objectives are successful achieved

Continual Professional Development

Connects in to relevant professional networks and accesses learning on an ongoing basis so as to keep up to date with latest thinking to share across the business

Professional Experience & Skills:

  • Has proven experience in learning and development in a similar role and/or in a multi-site, multi-national retail/service environment

  • Can demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills at all levels and cultures

  • Behaves professionally and ethically

  • Is passionate about helping people to realise their potential

  • Gets a kick out of crafting and embedding L&D initiatives to build capability

  • Never forgets that their role is pivotal to the delivery of an outstanding customer experience

  • Has a Learning & Development qualification e.g. CIPD or equivalent (desirable)

Knowledge:

  • Has knowledge and in-depth experience of Learning & Development principles and tools

  • Has knowledge of Management and Leadership models

  • Has a good understanding of Operational processes and requirements

Skills:

  • Strong organisational skills

  • Flexible and adaptable to a still developing, changing and complex environment and able to deal with ambiguity

  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships
